As the Principal Solicitor at Bayside Community Legal Service, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality legal services to the local community.
In this part-time position based in Wynnum, Queensland, you will oversee the operations of the legal service and lead a team of dedicated volunteer solicitors, and support staff.
Your Responsibilities
- Supervising the provision of legal advice and assistance to clients on a range of matters including family law, domestic violence, criminal law, and consumer disputes.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and professional codes of conduct.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the legal service, including file management, client intake, and staff supervision.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance the service's reach and impact within the community.
- Engaging with key stakeholders, such as community organisations and government agencies, to build partnerships and secure funding.
- Overseeing the training and professional development of the legal service's staff.
- Representing the legal service in various forums and advocating for the rights of the community.
Your Skills & Experience
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a current unrestricted practising certificate.
- At least 5 years of experience as a solicitor, with a proven track record of providing high-quality legal services in a community legal setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of legal professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of the legal issues and challenges facing the local community, and a commitment to providing accessible and inclusive legal services.
- Experience in strategic planning, project management, and financial management.
